New and Improved Website Released
Things have really been clicking at DSI. We have recently released our new and improved
website. Based on input from our clients, friends and colleagues, we have enhanced the design,
content and ease of navigation. These updates have allowed us to expand our online portfolio and
have
made the site an information resource for our visitors. Go ahead, check
it out today at www.designstylesinc.com.

Trends in the Marketplace
In the history of our firm, we have designed hundreds of homes. Whether it is for a custom home,
remodeling project or builder product, the interaction that we have with our clients gives us
invaluable, in-depth knowledge of how people interact with the spaces in which they live.
We enjoy sharing this knowledge with our new clients, to help them make more informed
decisions on the features they should consider when designing their own home.
Traditionally, residential floor plans have included a formal living room and a family room. Today, those traditions seem to be changing to improve the livability of a plan based on the homeowner's lifestyle. Many of our clients are requesting greater flexibility in their floor plan designs and have come to realize that a formal living room is rarely used and to many, it is a waste of valuable square footage. These realizations are creating a trend for homeowners to replace the formal living and family rooms with a great room and a bonus room. The availability of a bonus room allows for a flexible space that can be used as a home office, theatre, game room or whatever suits one's individual lifestyle. The design of the room changes allow the homeowner options that have come to be necessary with our fast-paced and ever changing lives.
Another room that is changing in the home is the bedroom. They are growing in number and are changing in purpose. The most common type of home we see today is a four bedroom home with a den. Some secondary bedrooms, however, are not always used as a bedroom as they once were. They are now being designed to work as a flexible space that can function as a den, a hobby room or as a play room. It is also common to have floor plans designed where one or two bedrooms and a bathroom can be closed off from the rest of the home by a sliding pocket door to allow that space to function as an in-law or guest suite where one bedroom can serve as a bedroom and the other as a sitting room.
As you can see, times have changed. Your home expresses who you are. Shouldn't it accommodate your needs while suiting your individual lifestyle?

In More Ways Than One,
DSI has Doubled in Size!
Design Styles, Inc. (DSI) has been so busy this past year; we've grown our studio space as well
as our team.
In an effort to accommodate the needs of our growing number of clients, we doubled our
studio space last December. This additional space gave our team members the necessary space
to work more
efficiently in an open studio setting. The expansion also allowed for a larger
reception area, an
additional conference room for client meetings as well as room for future
new team members.
These changes have allowed us to expand upon our quality process.
The last time DSI expanded its office space was in January 2002 when the firm moved to its
current location.
We are pleased to introduce the following individuals that have helped us fill our recently

Bow Wow Haus

Last fall, DSI was among 40 other architecture firms and renowned artists asked to participate
in
a dog house design project to benefit The Humane Society of Tampa Bay
and the Outdoor Arts
Foundation.
The project was conceived to give local architects and artists an opportunity to
display
their
creative talents to a wide audience and to help raise much needed funds for the
charities. On May 8, 2004, all of the houses were sold at a live gala auction at the Wyndham
Harbor Island in
Tampa.
DSI’s Pooch Pavilion was constructed by our DSI team with generous donations of materials
from Faour Glass, Coloroc Materials, Window Tinting on Wheels and Hydroknife. A very special
thank you goes out to these companies.
Our Pooch Pavilion has been featured in many locations including the St. Petersburg Times,
the Tampa Bay Real Estate Report, Tampa Bay Magazine and Good Morning Tampa Bay.
